Clearing the Snow for the Pee Dee (~1915)

K. Davies

I was researching my family history, and stopped into the Cochrane Public Library. I found some of the information that I was looking for through your resources, for my mother was born in Cochrane in 1929. I would like to say thank-you for your the librarians and there help, for knowing where to look for the information.

Knowledge Ontario allows students and teachers to access many periodicals to which they would otherwise not have access. This is important for research skills which all students will require to form informed opinions.

AskON is THE BEST! Every time I use it, I get succinct and helpful instructions on whatever it is that I need from the library resources. I will continue using it and I think its a fantastic thing that should continue to exist and be supported. Way to go!

I needed to find several articles and books but I didn't have the time to search for them on my own after trying initially. Having working with an askON agent in parallel with writing my paper helped me greatly.

I cannot say enough about the databases available through Knowledge Ontario. First and foremost, free access to the databases means that all students regardless of economic status can have equal access to information. Secondly, they are learning the difference between the Internet, and reliable and valid information to use when researching to complete papers for school. This prepares them for college and University. It is exciting to see the students when they finally "get it" that the databases are available even at home, 24/7 for free and that all of the citations are available, and bibliographies too. E-books are also apart of the selection and the students get so excited to learn about this. Thank you so much for giving us this incredible access to the world of information! The staff, students and librarians of Northern Collegiate and Vocational School, Ontario. ;)

It has always been a struggle to find peer reviewed best practice research without engaging in hundreds of dollars of commitments with individual journals. I am thrilled to find this information for our staff who can now, at their fingertips access the information easily as we once did when we attended colleges and universities - this is a wonderful way to support continued education and allow us to stay on top of our fields--THANKYOU!
